First release


Made the first release of my space game Astraworm yesterday evening.

I'm mostly happy with it but will be doing some tweaks and bug fixing over the next few days.

  • Your ship has a tractor beam which pulls in crates left by destroyed ships - I noticed that in some situations this would result in crates ORBITING the player instead of being pulled in(!). This should be fixed in the next version, there's also a timer so they don't stay in the game world forever if you miss them.
  • I may need to bump up the default control sensitivity. This is configurable in options, and determines the max rate at which you can rotate your ship. For keyboard control you have to just compromise with the best setting, but with gamepad you get much more control, that's the best way to play.
  • I may tweak the prices a bit to make it easier to start off. Especially with the start ship which cannot hold much cargo, the sale prices can be very low which make it hard to get started upgrading your ship etc.
  • At the moment when your ship is destroyed, and your insurance pays for a new one, you lose all the upgrades. This makes sense, but is annoying, so you end up going back to a save game instead. To make play easier I've decided to make it preserve the ship upgrades - I'll try and put this in the next release (1.01).
